Festivals

MozambiqueThe Music Crossroads festivals started in 1997, bringing together the best up and coming young Southern African artists to share their music regionally and compete for international tours, studio recordings and instrument prizes.

This program, comprising a total of 34 annual Provincial and 5 National festivals in Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, followed by an InterRegional Festival (IRF), has become both a unique event for hundreds of local groups and audiences, and a career launch pad opportunity.

Alongside live performances, the festivals have also included workshops focused on music creation, training and music business/entrepreneurship, HIV/AIDS awareness, relationship workshops as well as music jam sessions and get-togethers.

Between festival periods, Music Crossroads has also offered local opportunities for children, young artists and bands to develop their creative, instrumental, vocal and life skills in the national Music Crossroads entities.
