Club Shanga came first on ‘Chibuku Road to Fame’!

The talented seven-piece Zimbabwean band, Club Shanga, who recently won the Music Crossroads InterRegional Festival 2010, has gathered momentum and scooped another first prize!

This time Club Shanga won he ‘Chibuku Road to Fame’ finals, a famous Zimbabwean music talent searching show, last Saturday, 25th September. It is good news for Club Shanga:

the band from Marondera, representing Mashonaland East Province, won the US $5000 first prize of the contest along with a recording contract. Farai Baramasimbe, the band's lead singer, told The Zimbo Jam, “we are going to have preparations for our European tour. We were faced with hard times trying to raise funds but through the help of the Almighty we have made it.”

Last July, having won the Music Crossroads Zimbabwe national festival, Club Shanga were announced winners of the IRF in Tanzania two weeks later, earning a European Tour in May-July 2011.

On Saturday, Chibuku Road to Fame celebrated its tenth anniversary with over 12000 people attending the event throughout the day. Concerts from local favourite bands Oliver Mtukudzi, Tongai Moyo, Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Kapfupi concluded the event.
