Dancing crowds followed Malawian band Konkalazi during their recent performances at festivals and venues in over 10 shows in Spain, The Netherlands, Sweden and Norway.

"We are happy with the group's achievements. They did well for Malawi and it was an exciting experience for them. On top of that they were involved in workshops and we hope they will also impart the knowledge they gained to fellow local artists," told Gayighayi Mfune, Music Crossroads Malawi director, to local media The Daily Times, yesterday.

Lively and groovy, the Lilongwe based group, who formed in 2008, spread their mix of soul, reggae, funk, RnB and jazz (or “Afro-Funk-Infusion” as they like to call it) throughout their European tour, as the prize winners of the Music Crossroads International Festival 2012. Media coverage of the quintet's tour included this appearance on Spanish TV.

Freshly back in Lilongwe, Konkalazi have also been involved in local workshops and concerts with Norwegian group Svermere, as part of a musical exchange programme.
