Zimbabwe

Music Crossroads Zimbabwe provides young Zimbabwean musicians with the opportunity to grow through music and demonstrate their potential on the world stage. As there are insufficient resources available to young musicians in Zimbabwe, MCZIM plays a vital role in developing and nurturing young talent, providing the necessary support to see musicians to build successful careers in the music industry.

Music Crossroads Zimbabwe takes pride in being the founding member of the Music Crossroads program, initiated in Zimbabwe in 1996 by Jeunesses Musicales International. With the aims and objectives of improving self awareness and social inclusion of young African individuals as well as becoming a resource for developing the Zimbabwean music infrastructure, MCZIM is proud to have launched the careers of hundreds of artists nationwide. These artists include Progress Chipfumo, First Farai, Munyaradzi Munodawafa, Willom Tight, Bongo Love, Liyana and Ihawu Lesizwe, who now enjoy strong national recognition.

The MCZIM success has largely been driven by the success and popularity of MCZIM's Provincial Workshops and Competitions. The provincial Songs for Life (S4L) songwriting workshop has recently expanded in scope. MCZIM now offers the most promising workshop participants, selected for the positive messages of their music, to undergo further workshops and training, culminating in the recording of a S4L compilation album and showcase.

MCZIM shows solidarity with various world commemoration days, organizing performances to mark World AIDS Day, Musicians' Day, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Day of the African Child and the International Day of Peace.
